Our hygiene is essential for our health. We clean and care for our bodies every day. When you wake up in the morning, most of us will go to the bathroom to brush our teeth or wash our faces. It is a habit to stay clean, not just for our health but also for social benefits.

We are taught by our parents to practice good personal hygiene. They first taught us how to clean by ourselves and became our routine afterward. This routine became a habit that helps us in many ways. As we grow older, our routine differs based on our needs and wants, especially on women.

Our adolescence is a great factor in how we change, improve, and maintain our hygiene. It is a transitional stage wherein it happened in our teenage years. The girls will start to develop physically. These changes are breast, and hip development, pubic hair, underarm hair, uterus, and ovaries increase in size, hormonal changes, body odor, acne, fertility, and menstruation.

Menstruation or period is every month suffering from every woman. It is a regular discharge of blood from the uterus to the vagina. It usually starts in our teenage years and will stop when we reached 45 to 55 years old. Menstruation is an uncomfortable feeling for women. We tend to feel tired and irritated during our monthly period in our painful periods and abnormal bleeding, which was also experienced by some women.

As a woman, we wanted to be comfortable during the period. Nowadays, we wanted to help ourselves to get through even on our darkest days. Through feminine hygiene, we maintain our overall health and keep our intimate area clean for a comfortable feeling.

Why do we need feminine hygiene?

  1. Health – Our health is the most important thing in our life. It is essential that by taking care of ourselves, we can have a happy and long life.
  2. Need – Our body has its own needs. We have to provide those different needs, especially during our menstruation, such as tampons, pads, liners, and a menstrual cup. Also, women provide a feminine wash and wipes. During our painful period, we put a hot pad or bottle in our lower abdomen to ease menstrual cramps.
  3. Self-esteem – We took care of ourselves for us to feel better. If you are unmotivated, it tends that you don’t care about your hygiene.
  4. Social interactions – In social interactions, we wanted to be comfortable when we are with our family, friends, and colleagues.

Through the significant changes in our body, our feminine hygiene changes. Also, we have our reasons why we clean and care for our bodies as a woman.

Women’s health is very important in every family. Our mother, sister, and grandmother have a significant role in the family. In the young generation, we should continue to impart to them how vital feminine hygiene is.
